IFEA’s visual archives project is based on a need to pool resources. Indeed, photography is often a support for research, and many researchers keep personal archives of images specific to their studies. Focusing on very different places and periods, these pictures are a unique opportunity to follow the latest developments in Turkey (Anatolia, South East in the 1960s-1970s, Istanbul 1903, evolution of urban Istanbul from 1997-2014 as part of the O.U.I., etc).
The visual archives project is a collaborative work to which everyone is called to contribute and that grows a little more each day. As documents on Turkey, these photos are also a showcase of our activities, and in this sense, they are elements of our institutional memory that we are putting online so they can be accessible to the greatest number.
